The Sultanate of Oman Renews Its Membership on the Executive Council of (ACAO)

The Sultanate of Oman has renewed its membership on the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) for the  term of 2026–2028, following its victory in the elections held during the 29th Session of the ACAO General Assembly, convened today in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, with the participation of member states and representatives of Arab civil aviation authorities.

The Sultanate of Oman secured all 18 votes cast by the member states, achieving a unanimous 100% vote, reaffirming the continued confidence of the Arab civil aviation community in the Sultanate's active role in supporting and advancing the Arab civil aviation sector.

The Sultanate Oman's renewed membership comes as one of the eleven seats on the Executive Council, alongside the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Tunisia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, the State of Libya, and the Republic of Yemen.

This  renewal reflects the continued confidence that member states place in Oman's constructive role in promoting joint Arab cooperation in civil aviation and strengthening its active presence within the Arab civil aviation system.

It also reinforces the capacity of Arab states to keep pace with the rapid developments in the air transport industry and to safeguard their interests in regional and international forums.

The Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization is one of the organization's principal bodies, responsible for overseeing the implementation of General Assembly resolutions, supporting the organization's plans and programmes, and enhancing coordination among member states across various areas of civil aviation, including aviation safety, aviation security, environmental protection, air transport, technical cooperation, and capacity building.
In the statement delivered before the General Assembly by H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali bin Hamad Al Abri, Head of the Sultanate of Oman's Delegation, Oman reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to continuing its active contribution to the efforts of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and to supporting cooperation and integration among member states.

The statement further emphasized that the coming phase requires greater Arab coordination and unified positions on priority issues to strengthen the standing of Arab countries within relevant regional and international organizations.

His Excellency stated:
" The joint Arab cooperation in the field of civil aviation is no longer merely an option for integration; it has become a strategic necessity dictated by the nature of the current phase and the rapid regulatory, operational, and technological transformations taking place in the air transport sector.
This requires enhanced consultation and coordination among member states, as well as intensified efforts to ensure an effective and influential Arab presence in international organizations and forums."

H.E's statement also underscored the importance of maintaining Arab support for the nominations and initiatives of member states and strengthening coordination mechanisms with counterpart regional organizations to ensure unified messages and positions, enhance the ability of Arab countries to defend their common interests, and contribute to shaping international decisions and policies related to the civil aviation sector.

The Sultanate of Oman expressed its appreciation to the member states for renewing their confidence and support, affirming that its continued membership on the Executive Council will remain an extension of its approach based on cooperation, balance, openness, and partnership with all Arab states, in support of the organization's objectives and programmes and in furtherance of development and modernization efforts across the Arab civil aviation sector.

The Sultanate concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to working with member states during the coming term in a responsible and constructive spirit, with the aim of strengthening the role of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, supporting Arab aspirations for a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable civil aviation system, and enhancing the representation of Arab states in international civil aviation decision-making bodies.
