CAA and Indonesia’s GMF AeroAsia Sign Concession Agreement to Operate and Manage Aircraft Maintenance Facilities at Muscat International Airport

 

 

Muscat, 5 October 2026: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Indonesia’s GMF AeroAsia have signed a 20-year concession agreement for the operation and management of aircraft maintenance facilities at Muscat International Airport.

 

The agreement was signed on behalf of the CAA by H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali Al-Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, and on behalf of the company by Mr. Andy Fahrurrozi, Chief Executive Officer of Indonesia’s GMF AeroAsia,,while it has been  signed on the sidelines of the opening of the Civil Aviation Investment Forum ,which held in Muscat , Sultanate of Oman.

 

The agreement aims to provide heavy maintenance and periodic inspection services for the fleets of national, regional, and international airlines, transforming Muscat International Airport into an integrated regional hub for aviation maintenance and services by leveraging the Sultanate of Oman’s strategic location. It also aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and advanced technologies in airframe, engine, and avionics maintenance, while creating specialized employment opportunities for national talent.

 

The Civil Aviation Investment Forum, which kicked off on Monday 5th October 2026, aims to showcase investment opportunities related to land development and commercial and logistics activities surrounding Muscat, Salalah, and Sohar airports, and to strengthen their role as integrated economic hubs, in addition to opportunities associated with free zones and airport-related logistics services.

 

The forum also seeks to attract new investments, raise awareness of investment opportunities, enhance the investor experience, strengthen integration among relevant stakeholders, and highlight investment in emerging technologies and human capital development, thereby enhancing the aviation sector’s contribution to economic diversification and supporting the objectives of the National Aviation Strategy 2040.
