CAA Implements Five Workshops to Develop the National Advanced Air Mobility Program
 
 

 The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, conducted a series of strategic workshops throughout September as part of the activities of Task 2 for the development of the National Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Program in the Sultanate of Oman.
The workshops brought together representatives from relevant government, private-sector, academic, operational and investment entities, and aimed to develop national directions and priorities for the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem, and to discuss the regulatory, operational, technical and investment requirements needed to establish an enabling environment for future air mobility applications, thereby enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s readiness for this promising sector.
The workshops covered five main areas: the Advanced Air Mobility Operators and Use-Case Prioritization Workshop; the Training and Skills Development Workshop; the Regulation, Safety and Aviation Security at Low Altitudes Workshop; the Airspace and Unmanned Aircraft Traffic Management (UTM) Workshop; and the Investment, Financing and Public-Private Partnerships Workshop.
The workshops discussed a number of areas related to the development of the program, including identifying priority use cases, developing national skills and capabilities, establishing regulatory frameworks and safety and security standards, airspace management, as well as exploring investment, financing and public-private partnership opportunities.
These workshops form part of national efforts to develop the strategic directions, action plan and implementation governance, and to identify priority projects for the National Advanced Air Mobility Program. These efforts will contribute to establishing an integrated, safe and sustainable Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman.
The participation of various stakeholders in the workshops also reflects the importance of national integration and partnership in developing the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem. It further strengthens the role of the Civil Aviation Authority in regulating and developing the aviation sector and anticipating future technologies and solutions that can support the national economy and foster innovation in air transport.
It is worth noting that the workshops contribute to documenting the stages of program development and establishing a knowledge and institutional foundation to support the subsequent phases of the project, while enhancing communication and coordination among stakeholders involved in the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman.
