The Sultanate of Oman to Host the Special Air Traffic Management (ATM) Coordination Meeting and (MID) Region ATM Contingency Framework Workshop, Tomorrow
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, will host tomorrow the Special Air Traffic Management (ATM) Coordination Meeting and (MID) Region ATM Contingency Framework Workshop, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with the participation of the ICAO Middle East Regional Office and the Asia and Pacific (APAC) Region. The meetings will continue until 5 February 2026.
Representatives from 19 States will take part in the two meetings, in addition to 3 international organizations, which are the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), as well as 3 airlines, with a total of 90 participants comprising experts, specialists, and airspace users.
The coordination meeting, to be held from 1 to 3 February 2026, aims to discuss global developments in Air Traffic Management, the challenges affecting air traffic flows within the Middle East Region and at inter-regional interface points, in addition to exploring ways to enhance airspace management, strengthen regional coordination, And discussion on enhancing air traffic management services.
The ICAO Crisis Management Framework (CMF) Workshop, scheduled to be held from 4 to 5 February 2026, will focus on reviewing the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) emergency planning requirements, the operating mechanisms of the ICAO Crisis Coordination Team (CCT), and the exchange of experiences among ICAO Regions, with particular emphasis on strengthening cross-border coordination and enhancing regional emergency arrangements.
The organization of this event reaffirms the position of the Sultanate of Oman as an active regional hub in the field of civil aviation, and highlights its role in supporting the efforts of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), enhancing regional and international cooperation, and improving safety levels and operational efficiency within the region’s airspace.
