Oman Takes Part in the GCC’s 21st Civil Aviation Executive Committee Meeting in Kuwait
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), took part in the 21st Meeting of the Executive Committee for Civil Aviation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States.
The meeting is hosted by the State of Kuwait, organized by the Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in cooperation with the GCC Secretariat, with the participation of delegations from all member states.
His Excellency Eng. Naif bin Ali Al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, headed the Omani delegation to the meeting, which discussed a number of strategic files in the civil aviation sector, most notably the proposal to establish a GCC Civil Aviation Authority and the project to create an Upper Airspace for GCC States.
The meeting also reviewed mechanisms for strengthening GCC cooperation on the Unified Safety Assessment Program for foreign aircraft operating in GCC airports, as well as coordination and integration efforts in the field of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) projects across the GCC.
During the session, His Excellency delivered Oman’s statement, in which he expressed sincere appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its warm hospitality and excellent organizing of the meeting.
He praised the gathering as a reflection of the GCC States’ commitment to deepening joint action and enhancing cooperation to support this vital sector.
His Excellency affirmed that the Executive Committee meetings “serve as a mirror reflecting the shared commitments of GCC States and a practical embodiment of their determination to advance policies and strengthen initiatives that elevate the civil aviation sector.
” He emphasized that civil aviation remains a strategic pillar and a key enabler of sustainable development and economic growth.
He added that the current phase requires “bold and forward-looking strategic decisions,” particularly in light of global economic and technological shifts, underscoring the importance of unified efforts and a collaborative approach to enhance competitiveness and reinforce the GCC’s leadership in civil aviation.
His Excellency concluded by reaffirming Oman CAA’s commitment to supporting all joint GCC initiatives and contributing effectively to strengthening integration and cooperation among member states across all areas of civil aviation, in alignment with their strategic aspirations and in support of the sector’s advancement.
The meeting also highlighted the mandate and activities of the Committee on General Policies and Strategies, and approved the set of joint civil aviation events and activities for GCC member states for the years 2026–2027.
In addition, the agenda included a presentation of key achievements by GCC States and discussions on opportunities for cooperation with international partners and organizations, with the aim of enhancing integration, exchanging expertise, and strengthening the presence of the GCC civil aviation sector regionally and internationally.
The convening of this meeting comes within the framework of the GCC’s commitment to developing the civil aviation system and unifying efforts to enhance the sector’s readiness and efficiency in line with global best practices.
