Fourth Edition of National Weather and Tsunami Awareness Campaign Launches Tomorrow in Muscat Governorate

The fourth edition of the National Awareness Campaign on Weather Hazards and Tsunami Risks will kick off tomorrow in Muscat Governorate under the slogan “Your Awareness for Your Safety.”

The campaign which runs from 9 to 11 December 2025, isorganized by the National Committee for Emergency Management, the Civil Aviation Authority represented by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, the Ministry of Information, and the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Muscat and the Ministry of Education.

It aims to elevate both community and institutional awareness of weather-related risks, adverse climatic events, and tsunami hazards. It also seeks to strengthen public understanding of the multi-hazard early warning system and provide comprehensive guidance on proper conduct during emergencies. Additionally, the initiative works to enhance community preparedness and improve individual capabilities in responding to emergency situations through training programs and a variety of activities.

The campaign targets representatives of public and private enterprises, civil society organizations, and charitable groups through four main pillars: meetings and seminars, practical exercises, participation in local events and activities, and the issuance of awareness materials.

It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman is among the countries that place strong emphasis on improving readiness to confront tropical cyclones and tsunami risks.

This campaign reaffirms the importance of promoting a culture of community awareness to ensure swift and effective emergency response and to reduce human and material losses. Its activities begin in coastal governorates and expand to cover the various governorates of the Sultanate.
